Mission
Statement
The mission of the First Spiritualist Church of Lansing is
to seek new understandings of Universal Law, bring
together the spirit of brotherhood, further build the
progression of the soul, and allow harmony to flow from
the spiritual worlds to the physical planes.
Declaration
of Principles
Adopted by the National Spiritualist Association of
Churches
-
We
believe in Infinite Intelligence.
-
We
believe that the phenomena of nature, both physical and
spiritual are the expression of Infinite Intelligence.
-
We affirm that a correct understanding of
such expression and living in accordance therewith,
constitutes true religion.
-
We affirm that the existence and personal
identity of the individual continues after the change
called death.
-
We affirm the communication with the
so-called dead is a fact scientifically proven by the
phenomena of Spiritualism.
-
We believe that the highest morality is
contained in the Golden Rule, "Whatsoever ye would that
others should do unto you, do ye also unto them."
-
We affirm the moral responsibility of the
individual, and that he makes his own happiness or
unhappiness, as he obeys or disobeys Nature's Physical
and Spiritual Laws.
-
We affirm that the doorway to reformation
is never closed against any soul, her or hereafter.
-
We affirm that the Precepts of Prophecy
and Healing contained in the Bible are divine
attributes, proven through Mediumship.
Paul
enumerates the gifts of spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11.
-
But the manifestation
of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
-
For to one is given by
the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of
knowledge by the same Spirit;
-
To another faith by
the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the
same Spirit;
-
To another the working
of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning
of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to
another the interpretation of tongues;
-
But all these worketh
that one and selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man
severally as he will.
