The Different Expressions of Spirit

There are many gifts attributed to spirit. The following is just a list of some of the abilities and tools that spirit may give to each individual as we journey our spiritual paths:

Automatic writing: Attuning to spirit through the use of pen and paper. In automatic writing the hand is totally controlled by the spirits who are giving the message, and may even resemble that spirits handwriting.

Card readings: Cards when used properly can give insight to many things that may come in the questioner’s life. From a regular playing deck of cards to the tarot, there is a wide variety in which help us take an inner journey of where we are headed.

Clairaudience: The ability to hear and see spirit.

Clairsentients: The ability to sense or feel spirits presence or guidance.

Clairvoyance: The ability to receive messages and to communicate with spirit.

Gazing or Scrying: The gift of seeing spiritual influence through objects such as crystals, crystal balls, flames, bowls of water, rivers, mirrors and other natural objects.

Divining rods: Two rods when used properly can sense energy fields of spirit, natural sources such as water, or can be used to find missing items.

Healing: There are many arts of healing out there to explore, use your own spiritual guidance to tell which ones are right for your advancements. Magnetic healing is one that is performed in most spiritualist churches. In this art the healer attunes to the divine healing source through prayer and meditation, eventually sending that energy into the aura of the person needing healing. Healing may be instant or take time, and the strength of the healing depends on both the healer and the inflicted being open to the channel of the energy.

Inspirational speaking: The ability to give a sermon of inspiration from spirit without the use of notes, but through listening to guides and attuning to information which the congregation may need to energize the movement of spirit in their lives.

Omens and signs: Spirit may communicate with us through different signs or symbols that has significant meanings to us. Sometimes they work through our sensory organs to get our attentions, this is where the thought of omens come from: “itchy hands as signs of money”, “Hair standing up on arms and back of neck”. All signs that if you listen to and connect with spirit, you may get warnings or information from spirit to better help you on your journey.

Ouija boards: Also known as spirit boards, they are used to communicate with spirit through the use of letters and number and a pointer known as the oracle. The use of these items should be used in a properly protected environment, and only by those who are adept in the awareness of what spirit is.

Pendulums: Much like the dowsing rods, used to find natural recourses, lost items and energy points; a pendulum can be made of anything with a string and an object like a ring. Stone or anything on the end that has enough weight to make it swing into motion.

Prophetic Dreams: Through the years, many people acquired gifts of dreams of the future.  This is a natural occurrence in dream state being that the dream world and spirit world are connected in the same state of our minds as one place. Prophetic dreams are a gift that you need to take much care and consideration with before sharing them with others.

Séance: The art of people coming together and opening up to being channels for spirit communication. In earlier age sittings there are mediums, and there are sitters who charge the mediums. Today, we are more open to the idea of anyone opening up to being a channel to spirit, therefore all sitters may get involved if they attune to a higher spirit vibration.

Spirit art: Spirit art can be done many ways. In the past, spirit has been known to make art without the movement of brush or art utensils; Chesterfield Spiritualist Camp in Chesterfield, Indiana has some of this art in their museum. Another form of spirit art is done through a person who receives impressions from spirit and draws what they see on paper or paints it on canvass.

Table Tipping: The art of talking to spirit through the spiritual movement of a table set in front of sitters in a séance circle. They answer questions by the movement of the table due to a set of directions given by the sitters.

Tea Leaf readings: an art of divination that the reader uses a cup of tea that the questioner drinks including leaves in bottom of cup. The reader sees images in cup and uses those images to help people for the next coming year see what is on their pathway.

Trance Mediumship: In trance, a spirit takes over the mediums organs to communicate to the congregation/sitters. Partial trance is where the medium shares the physical body with the spirit, and full trance I where the medium may take a journey out of body and will not remember what has taken place.

The spiritual gifts only go as far as we are willing to take them.  There may be many other gifts and tools out there we can use, but we have to explore the abilities of our imaginations to bring these talents to acknowledgment.
